As the Roots pump runs for a long time, the lubricating oil in the gearbox will gradually be sucked into the pump cavity, indicating that the oil level is below the standard level. At this time, the machine must be stopped and oil must be added from the lubricating oil adding hole. Otherwise, the lubricating oil in the gearbox will be quickly sucked into the pump cavity due to the pressure difference between the atmosphere and the pump cavity.
In response to this situation, it is considered to adopt a method of connecting the gearbox and the inlet of the Roots pump to balance the pressure difference, so that the pump chamber and gearbox maintain the same vacuum degree. Install a specially designed large oil cup at the lubricating oil adding hole, which is made of PTFE turning. To avoid the problem of vacuum reduction caused by leakage from the oil cup hole, install an isolation ball valve at the lower part of the oil cup.
When the Roots pump is running, the ball valve on the lower side of the oil cup is in an open state. Once the level of the Roots pump drops and lubricating oil needs to be added, close the ball valve and open the threaded sealing cover on the top of the oil cup for filling.
After improvement, the Roots pump will no longer shut down when adding lubricating oil, which can ensure equipment operation and solve the problem of downtime affecting production.
