Vacuum Pumps in the Diamond Industry of Main Applications
Lab-grown Diamonds (Synthetic Diamonds) – Largest Usage, Highest Requirements
1.CVD Lab-grown Diamond Growth
CVD is currently the mainstream lab-grown diamond process, and vacuum is an essential condition.
① The reaction chamber must be evacuated to a high vacuum to eliminate air, moisture, and impurities.
② Prevent the grown diamonds from blackening, containing impurities, or having poor crystal form.
③ Typical vacuum configuration: Rotary vane pump + Roots pump + molecular pump/diffusion pump high vacuum unit
④ Process requirements: High vacuum level, extremely low leakage rate, and long-term continuous and stable operation.

2.HPHT High Temperature and High Pressure Lab-grown Diamonds
① The chamber is evacuated and degassed before pressurization and heating.
② This prevents oxidation and impurities from forming under high temperature and high pressure.
③ Utilizes rotary vane pumps and small Roots units.

Applications of Natural Diamonds
1.Diamond Sorting and Extraction
① After ore crushing, diamond particles are grasped and transported using vacuum adsorption.
② Avoid mechanical clamping and collision damage to the rough diamond.
③ Use small rotary vane pumps and vacuum generators.

2.Diamond Clarity/Composition Testing
① Infrared spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, laser microscopy
② Testing in a vacuum environment eliminates air interference and improves accuracy
③ Equipped with a small vacuum pump and diaphragm pump
3.Diamond Heat Treatment (Color Improvement, Enhancement)
① Annealing and color improvement of diamonds in a high-temperature vacuum furnace
② Vacuum environment prevents graphitization and oxidation of diamonds
③ Uses a medium-to-high vacuum unit
Diamond Processing and Surface Treatment
1.Vacuum Coating
① Coating diamond surfaces with anti-reflective, wear-resistant, and decorative films
② Must be completed in a high-vacuum coating machine
③ Equipped with: rotary vane pump + Roots pump + diffusion pump / molecular pump
2.Laser Cutting/Micromachining Fixing
① Fixing small diamond particles and fragments with vacuum chucks
② Ensuring precise positioning without damaging the rough stone
③ Using a small rotary vane pump or vacuum generator
Other Extended Applications
① Diamond encapsulation, jewelry vacuum degassing, and resin injection processes
② Laboratory diamond synthesis and material characterization equipment
③ Leak detection and atmosphere replacement in production environments
