Why vacuum pump needs vacuum pump exhaust filter

Vacuum pump exhaust filter is mainly used in oil seal rotary vane vacuum pump, such as roots vacuum pump, water ring vacuum pump and so on. It can filter the oil and gas of vacuum pump, make the vacuum pump discharge clean gas, and do not pollute the working environment. In the use of vacuum pump, sometimes there will be black smoke or even oil leakage at the exhaust port. What is the cause?

The oil leakage at the exhaust port is mainly caused by the problems of the exhaust filter

1. The exhaust filter fails and the oil and gas cannot be completely separated

2. The exhaust filter is not installed in place, and the shaft seal leaks oil and gas

3. The O-ring seal at the installation port of exhaust filter is poor

The oil mist separator needs to filter the oil and gas of vacuum pump. If the vacuum pump oil contains a small amount of impurities or carbon particles that are not easy to filter, the oil mist separator may be damaged in advance. Therefore, high-quality vacuum pump oil must be selected when selecting vacuum pump oil, so as to prevent premature failure of oil mist separator caused by carbonization and prolong the service life of vacuum pump.

In order to extend the service life of the vacuum exhaust filter, we need to replace the filter element in time. Here are some situations in which the oil mist separator needs to be replaced

1. If the gas discharged from the vacuum exhaust filter (also known as the oil mist separator) contains oil, the mist separator may be blocked or the mist separator may be damaged. In this case, the filter element must be cleaned and maintained or replaced.

2. If there is a pressure gauge on the oil mist separator, and the reading of the pressure gauge is in the red area, it means that the oil mist separator has been blocked, so we need to replace it in time.

3. If there is no pressure gauge in the oil mist separator, the current consumed by the driving motor and the flow rate of the vacuum pump are both decreasing, it is necessary to clean or replace the filter element.
