Most end users do not have professional material testing equipment. Many customers prefer to use magnets to simply test the raw materials are stainless steel or cast iron.
When we test material with magnet, there is a magnetic property indicating that the material of the product is cast iron, not stainless steel?
In fact, it is unscientific to use a magnet for simple test.
1. S ometimes stainless steel is with magnetic when it is machined. Due to the magnetic properties generated during the process, the magnet is attracted.
2. There are many types of stainless steel. In general, austenitic stainless steel and austenitic precipitation hardened stainless steel are non-magnetic (magnets cannot be absorbed), and other stainless steels have ferrite and ferromagnetic (magnet can be sucked). Therefore, stainless steel cannot be judged only by the presence or absence of magnetism. For stainless steel, it is indeed stainless steel if it can match used the quality standards.
So how do we judge whether the stainless steel material is qualified? The best way is to use professional test equipment to measure. Please refer to the picture below, we use professional testing to measure:
