At the same time, the Roots pump also starts, and as the pressure difference of the Roots pump decreases, the speed gradually rises and enters normal operation. During operation, as the load changes, the Roots pump will automatically shift.

(4) The pumping speed of the Roots pump under low vacuum is improved, and under the same conditions, the pumping time can be reduced by 50%. The structure is simple, the installation is convenient, and there is no need to bypass the pre-pumping pipeline, pipeline valve and pressure sensor.

(5) The roots pump and the backing pump can be started at atmospheric pressure at the same time, and run continuously in the entire pressure range of 0 ~ 10^5 Pa to avoid motor overload. Even in case of accidental leakage, it has a certain self-protection effect.

(6) Even if the Roots pump fails and gets stuck (the turbine stops rotating), the motor will still drive the pump wheel to rotate, and the motor will not be overloaded or burned due to heat.

Shaft Seal

Roots pump is an oil-free pump, and there is no requirement for oil lubrication and oil sealing in the vacuum chamber in contact with the process gas. But the rotors are supported by bearings and precisely meshed with each other with gears that need to be lubricated and can be a source of contamination for oil-free cleaning systems. Conversely, when extracting gases that are prone to react with oil, it may also be harmful to lubricating oils. In order to prevent the oil in the coupling cavity and the gearbox cavity from being transferred into the vacuum cavity, the relevant parts of the pump must be effectively sealed.

The shaft seal system of the hydraulic transmission Roots pump is composed of the following parts. The high-speed rotating oil slinger throws out all the oil attached to it through centrifugal force, and makes it flow back to the oil tank. A spiral labyrinth seal seals any incoming oil and returns it to the tank. Dry shaft seals made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) effectively prevent mutual intrusion between process gas and lubricating oil without the need for lubrication. The high-quality fine-felt bushing prevents dust particles from the process gas from entering the shaft seal system from the vacuum chamber, thereby preventing abnormal wear of the shaft seal.
