Roots vacuum pump is equipped with two blade rotors which rotate in opposite directions synchronously. There are small clearances between the rotors and between the rotors and the inner wall of the pump shell, but they do not contact each other. Roots vacuum pump is characterized by fast start-up, low power consumption, low operation and maintenance costs, high pumping speed, high efficiency, insensitive to a small amount of water vapor and dust contained in the pumped gas, in the pressure range of 100-1 Pa has a large pumping rate, can quickly remove the gas suddenly released.

Roots vacuum pump is widely used in vacuum metallurgy smelting, degassing, rolling, chemical, food, pharmaceutical industries, such as vacuum distillation, vacuum concentration and vacuum drying. The structure and working principle of Roots Vacuum Pump are similar to Roots Blower. When working, the suction port of Roots Vacuum Pump is connected with the main pump of the vacuum vessel or vacuum system. This vacuum pump rotor and rotor, rotor and pump shell between each other do not contact, the gap is generally 0.1-0.8 mm; do not need oil lubrication. The speed of Roots vacuum pump can be as high as 3450-4100 rpm/min, the pumping rate is 30-10000 liter/sec (1 liter = 10-3 m 3), and the limit vacuum is 6.5 *10-2 PA for single stage and 1 *10-3 PA for two stages.
