The solenoid valve is a commonly used switch or regulating element in industrial process control system to realize the remote control or program control of the system medium. The electromagnetic force is converted into mechanical force to realize the switching purpose. Due to the advantages of small volume, light weight, easy operation and convenient maintenance, the solenoid valve has been widely used.

Key points of solenoid valve selection:

Firstly, the selection of solenoid valve should follow the four principles of safety, reliability, applicability and economy. Secondly, it should be selected according to six field conditions (i.e. pipeline parameters, fluid parameters, pressure parameters, electrical parameters, operation mode and special requirements). Selection basis:

1、 According to the pipeline parameters, select the solenoid valve’s size (i.e. DN) and interface mode

(1) The diameter (DN) size is determined according to the internal diameter or flow requirements of the pipeline on site.

(2) Generally, the flange interface should be selected when it is > DN50, and it can be freely selected according to the user’s needs if it is less than or equal to DN50.

2、 According to the fluid parameters to select the solenoid valve: material, temperature group

(1) Corrosive fluid: corrosion resistant solenoid valve and all stainless steel should be selected; edible ultra clean fluid: food grade stainless steel solenoid valve should be selected.

(2) High temperature fluid: to choose high temperature resistant electrical materials and sealing materials made of solenoid valve, and to choose the piston type structure type.

(3) Fluid state: up to gas, liquid or mixed.

(4) Fluid viscosity: usually below 50cst, you can choose at will, if you exceed this value, you need to choose high viscosity solenoid valve.

3、 According to the type and pressure of the solenoid valve

(1) Nominal pressure: the meaning of this parameter is the same as that of other general valves, and it is determined according to the nominal pressure of pipeline.

(2) Working pressure: if the working pressure is low, the direct acting or step-by-step direct acting principle must be selected; when the minimum working pressure difference is above 0.04MPa, direct acting, step-by-step direct acting and pilot type can be selected.

4、 Electrical selection: AC220V and DC24 are preferred for voltage specifications, but other specifications can be ordered specially.

5、 Select according to the duration of the work: normally closed, normally open, or continuously energized

(1) When the solenoid valve needs to be opened for a long time, and the duration is longer than the closing time, the normally open type should be selected.

(2) If the opening time is short or the opening and closing time is not long, the normally closed type is preferred.

(3) However, some working conditions used for safety protection, such as furnace flame monitoring and boiler heating system, can not be selected as normally open, and the sustainable long-term power on type should be selected.

6、 Select auxiliary functions according to environmental requirements: explosion proof, signal feedback, check, manual, waterproof and dust-proof, diving

(1) Inflammable and explosive occasions: explosion proof solenoid valve with corresponding explosion-proof grade must be selected (it must pass the relevant national explosion-proof test and obtain the corresponding explosion-proof certificate! ) 。

(2) If you need to feedback the electric signal of the opening and closing state of the solenoid valve and the medium flow, please select the solenoid valve with signal device

(3) To prevent the backflow of medium, please select the solenoid valve with check function.

(4) When the solenoid valve needs to be operated manually, please select the solenoid valve with manual device.

(5) Water proof and dust-proof varieties should be selected for agricultural and horticultural sprinkler irrigation, irrigation or dust removal occasions (protection level above IP54).
