According to the performance of vacuum pump, it can undertake the following tasks in various vacuum systems.

(1) Main pump. In a vacuum system, a vacuum pump used to obtain the required vacuum.

(2) Crude pump. A vacuum pump that starts at atmospheric pressure and reduces the system pressure to another pumping system.

(3) Front stage pump. A vacuum pump used to maintain the front stage pressure of another pump below its maximum allowable front stage pressure. The front pump can also be used as a crude pump.

(4) Maintain the pump. In the vacuum system, when the air volume is very small, the main pre-stage pump cannot be used effectively. Therefore, a small capacity auxiliary pre-stage pump is arranged in the vacuum system to maintain the normal operation of the main pump or the low pressure vacuum pump required for the evacuated container.

(5) Coarse (low) vacuum pump. A vacuum pump that starts at atmospheric pressure, reduces vessel pressure and operates in a low vacuum range.

(6) High vacuum pump. Vacuum pump working in high vacuum range.

(7) Ultra high vacuum pump. Vacuum pump working in ultra-high vacuum range.

(8) Booster pump. It is installed between the high vacuum pump and the low vacuum pump to improve the air extraction system, the air extraction within the intermediate pressure range or the vacuum pump (such as mechanical booster pump and oil booster pump) to reduce the capacity requirements of the front stage pump.
