Vacuum pump used in Milking industry

What are the requirements for vacuum pressure stability in a milking system?

The vacuum pump continuously extracts air from the milking system to create a vacuum environment, while the vacuum pressure regulator responds to the air demand in time to maintain the stability of the vacuum pressure in the milking system. The vacuum pressure in the receiving tank should be maintained within the normal range of 2kPa (0.6 inHg) between the top and bottom.

Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump

Rotary vane vacuum pump (rotary vane pump) is a mechanical vacuum pump with internal oil. It can extract dry gas from a sealed container and, if a gas ballast intubation device is attached, also extract a certain amount of condensable gas. But it is not suitable for gas extraction with excess oxygen, corrosion of metals, chemical reactions to pump oil and dust particles. Rotary vane vacuum pump is one of the most basic vacuum collection equipment in vacuum technology. It is mainly composed of pump body, rotor, rotating blade, end cover, spring and so on. The rotor is mounted eccentrically in the cavity of the rotary vane vacuum pump. The outer ring of the rotor is tangent to the inner surface of the pump chamber (there is a small gap between them).

This type of vacuum pump must be held well with enough high quality lubricant to avoid wear as much as possible, while ensuring that the rotating vanes and the inner walls of the pump chamber are completely closed. Poor lubrication can reduce the performance of the vacuum pump, causing the vacuum pump to overheat, thereby shortening the life of the vacuum pump due to damage. Therefore, it is very important to check the oiler regularly. The lubricant used should always meet the manufacturer’s recommended standards.

In addition, since the rotary vane vacuum pump will release oil into the atmosphere, it is recommended to install an oil recovery device so that at least part of the oil can be recovered, filtered and recirculated in the pump.

Liquid ring vacuum pump

The liquid ring vacuum pump (water ring pump) is a rough vacuum pump. It is equipped with an eccentric rotor with fixed blades. Water (liquid) is thrown against the stator walls. The water (liquid) forms a liquid ring concentric with the stator. The liquid ring and rotor blades constitute a variable volume rotary variable volume vacuum pump.

Water ring vacuum pumps rely on the volume change of the pump chamber for suction, compression and exhaust.

As the name suggests, water ring vacuum pumps are lubricated by water. Although this kind of vacuum pump works quietly and has less pollution, due to its high price and low efficiency, it consumes 20% more energy than a rotary vane vacuum pump that requires the same capacity of lubricating oil. Adequate water supply needs to be guaranteed and needs to be updated regularly. Also, water ring vacuum pumps are not suitable for cold and ice-prone environments.
